چکیده

Introduction Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) is a type of molecular-targeted endo-radionuclide therapy in which unsealed radiolabelled somatostatin analogues are specifically directed toward receptors (SSTR) over-expressed Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (NEN) and related malignancies. This modality has witnessed benchmark growth over last decade symbolizes remarkable development precision oncology. The tumor selectivity excellent tolerability with minimal side effects make this one the preferred therapeutic options metastatic progressive NENs.Areas covered review deliberates upon fundamentals PRRT, its indications employment as for A few special scenarios based on our experiences expertise have also been mentioned. short discussion current advancements worldwide future directions included.Expert opinion SSTR-based PET PRRT now an established theranostic approach management NENs. Its spectrum expanded form Neo-Adjuvant-PRRT, Sandwich Chemo-PRRT, Duo-PRRT, Salvage-PRRT, Intra-arterial-PRRT. application to other SSTR-expressing tumors includes metastatic/inoperable medullary thyroid cancer, neural crest malignancies like pheochromocytomas-paragangliomas (PPGLs), Merkel cell carcinoma, radioiodine-refractory meningiomas. Though substantial prospective evidence still lacking, multidisciplinary team should adopt appropriate by using dual tracer imaging gatekeeper.

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy for advanced neuroendocrine tumors.

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) consists of the systemic administration of a synthetic peptide, labeled with a suitable β-emitting radionuclide, able to irradiate tumors and their metastases via internalization through a specific receptor (usually somatostatin S2), over-expressed on the cell membrane. After almost 2 decades of experience, PRRT, with either (90)Y-octreotide or (177)...

Developmental trends in targeted radionuclide therapy of neuroendocrine tumors

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms including carcinoids, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pituitary tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma and phaeochromocytomas. The symptoms and the outcome of NETs differ considerably between patients depending on several factors. By labelling tracers with a radioisotope, the tracer acts as a ...
